OlyCAP in the Community
|
OlyCAP partners with many other agencies on the North Olympic Peninsula to provide services. Our staff are involved with the community whether it's a walk to raise money, helping with a Holiday Dinner or serving on committees!
From Brinnon to Forks, we work with others on transportation issues, housing, homelessness and access to health care. Sometimes OlyCAP is the lead agency, at other times we play a supporting role.

OlyCAP is supported by the community through organizations such as the United Way of Clallam County and United Good Neighbors in Jefferson County. We are fortunate to partner with the Peninsula Daily News in supporting the Home Fund - an emergency fund available to all our neighbors on the Peninsula.

AmeriCorps and VISTA staffs contribute to the community on their weekend hours |
|
On Sunday, April 24th 2010 OlyCAP AmeriCorps and VISTA staff generously donated their time and youthful energy to assist community volunteers providing landscape upkeep at the Port Townsend Community Center.
With the recent budget constraints faced by Jefferson County, facility maintenance had been reduced. At this first of a series of volunteer work-dates, the young and the mature clipped, weeded, pruned and landscaped the grounds around the Community Center.

| OlyCAP Celebrates with an Open House!
On November 13th, 2008, OlyCAP opened their Port Townsend offices and invited the public in to celebrate the purchase of the buildings. More than 60 people visited with Tim Hockett our Executive Director and toured the facility. There was food to enjoy and information about OlyCAP, its programs and its services available. Attendees had an opportunity to meet directly with OlyCAP staff to learn the specifics of programs.
OlyCAP staff enjoyed the opportunity to put their programs on view and many staff members led the tours through the facilities. The comment most frequently heard on tours was - "I didn't know you did that...." We hope after the open house there re a few more people in the community who are aware of the scope of services OlyCAP provides and the dedication of the staff who support them. We certainly learned from our visitors that there are a lot of people in our community who are interested in our mission and supportive of our efforts.
Thanks to all who attended! We hope to continue to sponsor open houses at our facilities. It seems to be a great way to let the community know what we are doing.
