All of us have experienced
tough times in our lives and have needed some extra help. The Peninsula Daily News Home
Fund raises over $200,000 a year through the kindness of Jefferson and
Clallam county donors. Funds are distributed to community members who have fallen on
hard times and are experiencing financial hardships. The money
assists with emergency needs in several areas including energy, rent, utilities,
medical, dental and fuel. 100% of all donations go directly to
people in need and over 1,500 people were assisted in 2006!
Neither OlyCAP nor the Peninsula Daily News make any administrative charges for fundraising or distribution of funds. About one-third of the cases are managed by community Client
Service Volunteers. Volunteers or OlyCAP Case Managers meet one-on-one with clients to discuss their
situation and provide support, information, referrals and monetary assistance when eligible.
Volunteers receive comprehensive, specialized training to thoroughly prepare them to provide emergency services. OlyCAP is always looking for caring, committed people who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow community members who are temporarily experiencing financial hardships.
To volunteer, call 360-385-2571 in Jefferson County or 360-452-4726 in Clallam County.
