Volunteer Opportunities

Feedback.jpg

We characterize OlyCAP as the communities' helping hand, but we recognize that our community is also OlyCAP's helping hand.  Every year thousands of hours of volunteer time are contributed to, or through, OlyCAP in support of our community.  Volunteers help staff our thrift shop, deliver meals on wheels, administer emergency services, mentor children and assist in more ways than we can count.

Members of our community sponsor events and activities that support OlyCAP programs.  We are aware every day that there are hundreds of shoulders at the wheel helping us along.

If you would like to volunteer your time in service to the community, we have literally hundreds of opportunities available for you.  We can help you find an opportunity where your service will enrich our community.

We have listed several options below and if you would like, complete the volunteer interest form and we will contact you.

 Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

OlyCAP manages this national program in Clallam and Jefferson counties.  The program matches volunteers to opportunities, manages the quality of the opportunity and monitors volunteer performance and time.  In 2005 there were nearly 150,000 volunteer hours, valued at more than $2.5 million, contributed through RSVP to area nonprofit organizations.  There are volunteer opportunities with nonprofit organizations throughout Clallam and Jefferson Counties including the Senior Nutrition Program, mentoring students, museums, and the Chamber of Commerce to name just a few. read more...

Community Support Services Volunteer

All of us have experienced tough times in our lives and have needed some extra help.  The Home Fund, which amounts to over $190,000 in 2007, is money donated by Jefferson and Clallam county residents and distributed to community members who have fallen on hard times and are experiencing financial hardships.  The money assists with emergency needs in several areas including energy, rent, utilities, medical, dental and fuel.  100% of all donations go directly to people in need and over 1,500 people were assisted in 2006!

Working as a Client Service Volunteer, you will meet one-on-one with clients to discuss their situation and provide information, referrals, monetary assistance if eligible, and support.

Volunteers will receive comprehensive, specialized training to thoroughly prepare them to provide emergency services.  OlyCAP is looking for caring, committed people who would like to make a positive difference in the lives of fellow community members who are temporarily experiencing financial hardships.

Working Image Volunteer
Working Image/OlyCAP serves women aged 18 to 70+ who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. More than 25 referring agencies send us job ready women, or women in emergency circumstances.

If a woman doesn't have a job or a decent wage, she can't afford work appropriate clothes. Without the right clothes how can she get a good job?
How a woman presents herself can make or break her employment opportunities.

Working Image OlyCAP provides a solution. Working Image is dedicated to the otherwise unmet need on the Olympic Peninsula of providing low-income women with complete work appropriate outfits, as well as that intangible something extra that everyone needs to succeed in today’s world.

Volunteers Needed

We have opportunities for volunteers to become personal shoppers, merchandisers, and provide administrative assistance. Hours are flexible. Join our team to make a difference in the lives of women in our community. Volunteer personal shoppers confirm the value we see in each customer while designing outfits to meet her individual need.

Contact us today at 360-385-2571 ext 6334 to see how you can make a difference!
